Endometrial Biopsy and Infertility – The Important Things

It can be devastating for a woman to find out that she is infertile and it can be a very life changing experience to have the feeling of knowing that she will never be able to conceive any children. Luckily sometimes the use of prescription drugs to help change her bodily chemistry or following the doctor’s recommendations is all it takes for her to be able to have the children she always wanted and therefore it is of the outmost importance to know what causes the infertility. An endometrial biopsy is a procedure that the doctor usually performs when a woman finds out that she is infertile.

How Is An Endometrial Biopsy Performed and What Is It?
The doctor will collect a sample of the uterine lining by inserting a catheter through the woman’s cervix and into the uterus and that is the basic endometrial biopsy process. Endometrial biopsy and infertility go hand in hand as the doctor tests to see if the uterine lining will respond normally to the progesterone. Another way to perform an endometrial biopsy is to test for abnormal uterine bleeding which is normally also caused by an imbalance in the woman’s hormone system.

If you have an endometrial biopsy scheduled because you have been deemed infertile a good advice is that you should use ibuprofen prior to the procedure in order to alleviate some of the discomfort. If it is of any comfort to you, some cases of infertility can be reversed and the endometrial biopsy is often necessary to determine the causes of the infertile state.

The doctor will usually prescribe progesterone to relieve the imbalance of the hormones if that is what is causing the infertility, and by having an endometrial biopsy performed you will be able to detect whether that is the reason. This simple endometrial biopsy, even a simple one, could well push you on your way to have your first baby. By having this procedure performed you might be able to beat infertility.

Unfortunately not all infertile women who have an endometrial biopsy performed will be able to have children and the solution to look for could then be to adopt a child instead. Even though be a very useful tool, the endometrial biopsy for infertility will not be to fix everything and therefore we urge you not to get your hopes up to high.

If the endometrial biopsy determines that there is nothing that can be done to help you become fertile you need to remember that adoption is a solution to have children even though they are not biologically yours. Many children that are up for adoption don’t have the benefit of knowing their birth parents and you will bring joy, happiness and love in to the child’s life that the child might never have experienced.

At the same time you will be fulfilled by having a child that you can call you own. In most cases the unconditional love of a child will serve to heal the emotional wounds that you endured in the moment what the doctor told you that you were never to have children because of infertility.
